If you’re planning to follow the 2024 U17 Nordic Championships in Sweden from October 16-19 in Örebro and Västerås, we’ve put together a guide with everything you need to know. Get ready for some thrilling Nordic American football action!
Game Day 1 – October 16th, Örebro
The first round of games will be played on Wednesday, October 16th, at Behrn Arena in Örebro. Finland will face Denmark at 15:00 CEST, followed by Sweden vs. Norway at 19:00 CEST.
At Behrn Arena, one of Sweden’s premier stadiums with a capacity of 13,000, the restaurant Tillsammans will be open from 14:30 on game day. You’ll have the best seats in the house to watch the games while enjoying a delicious meal and drinks! Reserve a table at Tillsammans
All payments at the arena can be made via Swish or credit card.
Please note that the Swedish Police Authority has a ban on bags at all major events in Sweden. This means no bags are allowed in the stadium, except for medical reasons or children’s diaper bags.
While in Örebro, the teams will be staying at Scandic Väst, Elite Stora Hotellet, and Good Morning Hotel. We encourage parents and others traveling to Örebro to choose different accommodations to give the players the space and focus they need for their games.
While you’re in Örebro, don’t miss a visit to the iconic Örebro Castle in the city center and the Wadköping Open-Air Museum—both are must-see attractions!
Game Day 2 – October 19th, Västerås
The second round of games, including the bronze match and the final, will take place on Saturday, October 19th, at Arosvallen in Västerås. The bronze match is at 11:00, followed by the final at 15:00.
For those staying in Örebro for the first round, Västerås is just a one-hour drive northeast or a 49-minute train ride, costing about 165 SEK one way. From the train station, it’s a 25-minute walk to Arosvallen—or just 6 minutes by bike.
Arosvallen is a classic but smaller stadium compared to Behrn Arena. However, there will be a kiosk available for snacks and refreshments during the game.
The same bag ban will be enforced at Arosvallen as well.
After the final game, a trophy ceremony will take place, so please stay for the celebration of the winning team!
By the way, did you know Västerås is called “The Cucumber City” due to its long history of cucumber cultivation?
See you in Örebro and Västerås! Heja Sverige, Kom så Danmark, Heia Norge, and Hyvä Suomi!
